Kidney Donor Process
- Donor Completes Donor Medical History Screening Form & submits it directly to the transplant coordinator
- The following criteria exclude consideration as a kidney donor:
- Weight over 35% BMI
- Uncontrollable Hypertension or History of hypertension
- HIV
- Diabetes
- Active Malignancy, or Incompletely treated malignancy
- Evidence of acute symptomatic infection (until resolved)
- Diagnosable psychiatric conditions requiring treatment before donation including any evidence of suicidality
- Social Worker Evaluation
- Lab Work Evaluation w/ Transplant Coordinator
- *Potential Cross-Matching May Occur. ONLY if you have an Intended Recipient*
- Nephrologist Evaluation
- Transplant Surgeon Evaluation
- Financial Coordinator Evaluation
- Transplant Committee Meeting: Internal evaluation of donor by transplant committee, if approved they will continue to the next array of testing.
- Chest X-Ray | Required Annually
- EKG | Required Annually
- CT Abdomen/Pelvis
- Pap Smear (FEMALE PARTICIPANTS ONLY) | Required Annually
- Mammogram (40+ YR OLD FEMALE PARTICIPANTS ONLY) | Required Annually
- Colonoscopy (PARTICIPANTS OVER 50+ YRS OLD ONLY) | Required Every 5-Years
- Echocardiogram (PARTICIPANTS OVER 50+ YRS OLD ONLY) | Required Annually
- Stress Test (PARTICIPANTS OVER 50+ YRS OLD ONLY) | Required Annually
- Cardiac Clearance (PARTICIPANTS OVER 50+ YRS OLD ONLY) | Required Annually
- Health Information entered into a Donor Data-Base to find ideal pairing OR Schedule surgery with intended recipient, if there is a match.
